The mid-week racing continues again and the weather does not no what to do with itself up here in the not so Sunshine State. The rail is out six and a half metres and we find ourselves on a soft 5 track with the first race to jump at 1.38pm. Â
Â
Race 1: MAIDEN (1110M)
Happy to stay out of this race being mostly maidens on what will be a wetter track with the rain overnight. The Munce trained Naughty Neil has trialled up well and does get the booking of Maloney so will be leaning that way but you do also need to take $2.15 which is a little skinny.
Â
Race 2: MAIDEN(1640M)
Another absolutely impossible race here with some real battlers going around. All are yet to win a race and so the horse with probably the most upside in the Kendrick trained Inside Passage drawn well and senior jockey on so leaning that way.
Â
Race 3: Class 1 (1640M)
Well Fireforce is the real question here, is it unlucky in running or scared of the post because its becoming extremely costly. Winning one from seventeen does not read well and while does get Franklin here cannot go back to the well. Canara looked to run on well last start behind Laridae and The Wheelbarrow from well back in the field. From barrier four she should be much closer and has been building to a race like this with a bit of wet track from assisting.
Â
Race 4: Class 3 (1200M)
This is a case of here we go again similar to Fireforce but this time we are talking Cindersea and it’s a similar feeling. From barrier ten just not sure where she gets to and with no real 1200M form to speak of I am not sure she gets the trip. There is not a stack of tempo in the race though but from barrier seven the Gollan trained Jenchick Boom fourth up after two runs behind some classy horses on tracks that suited leaders happy to give her one last shot this preparation with the weight relief.
Â
Race 5: Class 3 (1200M)
This is a decent little class three race and True Amor looks the one to beat here. Comes through some nice form lines behind Now Is The Hour beating home horses like Hell to Pay, Axius and Abender. Since this had one run and that was in behind Press Link who has come back super. He gets the claimer engaged here and that may be the only query, with a good steer he should simply be winning this after a sharp trial.
Â
Race 6: Class 5 (1350M)
Once again keeping this race pretty simple, Hell To Pay has been going well this preparation and can go on with it here. Jace will take off two kilos and while there is a little bit of pace inside his recent form and peak fitness should see him be too tough late for this lot over the slightly shorter trip to last start.
Â
Race 7: Benchmark 70 (1640M)
Well The Wheelbarrow may be the greatest bet in history if a few of these tips win today. Laridae lines up here and split the former and beat home Canara who runs earlier in the day. He sticks with the same weight but just looks a horse on the up and up. While he doesn’t win out of turn this preparation looks different but would appreciate a drier surface.
Â
Race 8: 0 – 65 (1350M)
There are a couple of mine here that I am quite keen on and both are at the top end of the market. Last start bazinga winner Tam Na Ghar lines up and while she just got there last start perhaps that is because she was looking for further, which she doesn’t get today. This is similar to Tomba who couldn’t quite run down Hell To Pay but comes to this race third up. He doesn’t have a lot of exposed form on the softer tracks which is a concern. From the barrier happy to stick with Tam Na Ghar as she will be in front in the run and likes the softer tracks and has the in form Daniel ‘buckets’ Moor on.
