Doomben | March 1

We are going back to back at Doomben for this mid-week event and we need to bounce back after a slightly lean weekend. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out eight metres for the entire course with the first race is to jump at 1.38pm AEST.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)

There is an odds on pop in the first today but the third in a trial behind She’sgottheboom hasn’t been franked and for that reason not that keen, but first Group 1 on weekend to the stable do they keep the roll happening here?

Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)

Pretty keen Naval Trader here. He draws the pole here and will be able to shoot from the drawn and if not lead be just off them on the corner. With another run under the belt and reaching peak fitness should be mighty hard to hold out here.

Race 3: Benchmark 70 (1050M)

Wow has anyone told the O’dea and Hoysted team that someone else might like to win a race this Wednesday. Nashira lines up again here after a run of seconds and can go on with it here after a last start win. Small field should remove any issues with luck he has faced in the past and will be unleashing late.

Race 4: Benchmark 70 (1350M)

Pentito is just a bet here. With a fourth behind Alpine Edge in the MM Qtis race and a subsequent third behind Comrade Rosa his form just looks super for this race. Absolute launch job today at Doomben with Ben Thompson on.

Race 5: Class 4 (1200M)

Pretty interesting race here but going with an outsider in Kokopo Kitty. Her two runs in this prep have been full of merit and gets in here with weight relief and reaching peak fitness third up and a good record over this trip can be more than competitive here. She will be sitting off them and drawn in should be doing no work early to conserve energy.

Race 6: Class 2 (1650M)

Pretty keen on Ultimate Pride here. She comes up to Brisbane with two runs down South and this is the classic case of Waller building that confidence up again. She is at the right trip and likes a good surface which she will get today. Ryan Maloney has been booked and in a small field the wide gate is mitigated.

Race 7: Class 1 (2050M)

The middle distance handicap, and it is pretty open here as well. Steering clear but I do think the favourite is short in a competitive race.

Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

Miss Tambo finally gets to Doomben and that is the sole reason for a last chance crack here from the mugs. She has been costly but with KWT on board, barrier three and a track that suits her racing style we get all the pointers that she is well in here.
