This is an absolute midweek treat today after some awful weather over the weekend. The races were abandoned but that means we get the privilege of the Fred Best today along with a pretty stacked card leading into some big Group ones coming up over the next few weeks. We will be racing on a soft 6 track with the rail out seven metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 11.21am.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1110M)
First starter city in this race but I think we go with the race proven Certified Copy here. Jumped very well and lead around the corner last start at the Sunshine Coast and was only run down late beaten in a head bobber, it will be in front here and the shorter trip suits.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)
This race is pretty hard to line up, keen to save for later races in what looks a really open affair.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)
Well Guac On was out the gate latest and nearly run down by the favourite here in Green Spring. The latter does draw barrier ten but with the services of Maloney and in the right stable the 1350M looks the right trip and he can knock off the maiden today.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1640M)
This looks to be a race in two here both from the Southern stables. Saturdays Girl is a live hope here but the ex overseas galloper Jillaroo who was super first up at Caufield comes to this stepping further out in trip which is what she needs. The draw is not ideal but she can come across with pace drawn out as well and if she is within two pairs, will be extremely hard to beat.
Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1200M)
A few nice horses here for a Doomben midweek card, and with the in form Munce team having two I am terrified to go against them. Bollinger Miss will be back with Dream Lantern looking to run on late and the latter winning two from three first up is the one we want to be with.
Race 6: Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1350M)
Well with entry to the Stradbroke on the table here in this race it is a stacked field and it is wide open as well. With futures tickets on the line in the Stradbroke for the Angel I would love to see her win here but Bosustow was in the market in the Kingsford Smith and we get $4.40 today from barrier three. In a race that looks to have a lot of pace if he camps just behind them he will get first crack and that could prove the difference between him and Angel Capital.
Race 7: Class 1 (2040M)
Mazis comes through the Group 3 where he was well beaten but that was on an absolutely bottomless track where everyone was well beaten and prior to that the form was good. He was good in a very short trial latest and leading up to this and barrier four gets every chance and this team as we said is flying at the moment.
Race 8: Class 3 (1350M)
This race is pretty hot in terms of form coming into it with a stack of chances across the board. The top two in the market will be leading this off and should be hard to hold out but I just feel like with all this speed in this race Aldolfito could be the one. He was well beaten over 1200 first up but that race was dominated on speed, then was a nice winner second up at Ipswich and now stepping out to the 1350M should really suit. Come on Craig not three wide for this runner today please mate.
Race 9: Benchmark 70 (1200M)
We are going to stick with Gin a Tonic here again for the Laming team hoping to get a double today. He was super impressive last start at Ipswich flying home late to win. The form prior was super behind Boomtown Boss and with only Runwiththetide looking to probably take this up, on paper he looks the one to be with.
Race 10: Class 2 (1640M)
This race is simply a cheat code, and that code is Huxtable on for the Munce team. Rashford was ok first up, then second up went super behind New Joy and Quothquan, the former has since won and the latter was second on the weekend. So the form out of that race looks superior and with the pole draw he can sit in behind and be flashing late over the slightly longer trip.
