Once we survive night one of Royal Ascot we are going to be on the hunt for some midweek miracles and it is spectacle at Doomben where our dreams will come true. We will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out nine metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 11.58am.
Race MAIDEN (1350M)
Half keen to back up here into Exposition again for the Waller yard but too scared to take on Transatlantic for Gollan so it’s a pass here.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1050M)
Simbu, barrier two, jump, lead and win? I think so!
Race 3: MAIDEN (1050M)
A more first starters what a day this is, pass again absolutely no idea.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1110M)
Well we like Simbu in the second and the favourite here beat it home so if we get the chocolates earlier then we go bang and load the gun here with the short priced favourite in Neoclassicism for Thompson and Heathcote.
Race 5: Class 1 (1650M)
Well it is fair to my money will not be on Kronenbourg here, it has cost the mugs more money than Landsborough Lad. Enunciation has had three runs at the 1350 and now steps out in trip and on the last run having to pull three wide on the corner and make a sustained run told late. He will be fitter for that run and will be primed for this run 1650M.
Race 6: Benchmark 65 (1650M)
This race looks pretty hard on paper but happy to be siding with Von Bee here. The race itself looks to lack a lot of pace and Von Bee will lead them off and with the rail out be tough to catch. First up he was third behind Betcha the Crown who came out and won yesterday in the last at Lismore so the form has been franked.
Race 7: Class 6 (1650M)
This is a pretty competitive race here and we are with DAD or Drive A Deel. This horse just absolutely loves Doomben. With four wins from five starts and five wins from seven starts at the trip and barrier 5 she will be mighty hard to hold out here.
Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
Pocket full comes up the shorts here but is a Sunny Coast specialist and Doomben even with the low draw may not be his go. Hokahey has been given absolutely no favours with the car park draw but with a fair bit of pace in this race it could setup nicely. Melea gets the claim and if they take on Pocket Full up front she will get her chance here.
Race 9: Class 3 (1350M)
All the money here is with the ex Victorian in Victory Bay. He has some decent form around a few and has beaten a challenger here in Micro before down south. While generally southern form is far superior we have sided with Teranga here. First up is simply this horses go and after coming out of nice trial tune up, and Jaden on board with form at the track and distance I am happy to be with her at the price.
