Well we got the biggest day of Queensland racing behind us and that means back to Doomben for this midweek card we go. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out seven metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.
Race MAIDEN (1200M)
A maiden to start the day here and Landsborough Lad is here again, wow, blinkers first time is a change but surely you cannot be taking the $3.80. Kai Tak for Jack Bruce lines up here and on that last start can be winning this. Emperor lead them from pillar to post last start and she was the only one running on, happy to take the price here from the low draw.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)
Absolute lottery here with $5 the field and a few with a only having a few starts we are happy to pass.
Race 3: Class 1 (1110M)
It is a big field here for this class 1 and there are a few nice horses but are poorly drawn and for that reason we are with Idoneus. She will go forward from the draw with the light weight and off the back of two sharp trials she will be at peak fitness.
Race 4: Class 1 (1110M)
We have backed Kai Tak early and the horse that beat it Emperor starts favourite here. We however had sided with Thelwell with the three kilo claimer. He comes out of the race behind Golden Boom, Spacewalk and Lady Laguna and he can be winning this race sitting just off the back of Emperor in the run.
Race 5: Benchmark 70 (2040M)
This is another really tough race with a classy runner from the Waller yard in Chernak. I am sticking with Miss Keeler here after being on last start who ran fourth off 1.71 lengths from a lower draw and with pace drawn out I am hoping she can sit one out one back from the pace and explode late.
Race 6: Class 4 (1050M)
Well we had Muschialli last start at a nice price but second up this horse has had problems in the past and for that reason we are jumping off. Richon has been airborne beating the flying Mishani Sniper and prior King Kapa who won a listed race on Stradbroke day. With the three kilo claim and the low draw Molloy should be able to either lead or be one pair back and be winning here.
Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1640M)
My namesake is lining up again here but the extra weight and visitors draw make her unbackable. For that reason we are staying out.
Race 8: Benchmark 70 (1350M)
We round out the day with another stacked field of Wednesday battlers and Enabler fourth up here from the pole draw. He will be at peak fitness here and does always run well at the track and was beaten by two smart ones last start in Hatchet and Black on Beauty.
