Doomben | July 12

It is well and truly off season and we are back to eight race card, today we are off to Doomben. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out three and a half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.36pm.

Race MAIDEN (1350M)

First starters from multiple stables and yes Denote for the Waller team should be winning but this race is going through to the keeper.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1630M)

The Gollan runner here has come up favourite but there is value in Fine and Rare. This three year old gelding has had six starts and four seconds and one of those three starts ago was behind Knight’s Choice who Lloydy backed home in the Winx Guineas, the form around it is super at and the price looks a better bet here.

Race 3: Class 1 (1350M)

Shapin Power, this could simply be a jump, lead and win scenario. Third up here and sticking to the 1350M should really suit and a third first up behind Win Burn on Sunshine Coast cup day looks good for this race.

Race 4: Class 1 (1350M)

This race is pretty hard with three and four dollars the field but Baltray out of the Freedom Rally race looks like one we can have a go at. He beat home Spaceship who comes up favourite here and with the three kilo claimer in Melea Castle on board gets in slightly lighter too. He does get back in the run but with pace drawn inside and out the tempo should be fairly strong here.

Race 5: Benchmark 65 (2030M)

Sticking with the favourite here in Brown Thomas even though form around Rations and Warp Speed is questionable at best. This horse simply doesn’t warm till he gets out over 2000M and beyond and he gets that here. He is one from one at the track and with the services of Angela Jones can make it two from two.

Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1630M)

Absolute lottery this one, could have something on Cairdeas for the sickos with all the pace in the race but not overly confident here.

Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1110M)

Keen on the O’dea and Hoystead runner here in Jayanthi. Another southerner who has been purchased by a premier Queensland stable and yes the form reads a little poorly but this horse flies second up winning two from two and with barrier 1, a good track and early speed Angela Jones should just be able to let the mare roll and control this race out in front.

Race 8: Benchmark 70 (1350M)

Well we were with Hokahey last start and Pocket Full handled her no worries but she gapped the rest by at least two lengths. She drops a kilo on that effort and from barrier eight with a bit of early toe will be looking to cross and sit just outside the leader. She can be winning this second up at a track where she has had a bit of success prior.
