Doomben | February 26

Writer: Mugs PuntingMugs Punting

Well after what feels like months of Ipswich we move back to the smoke of Doomben for the midweek card today and we are back to eight race cards. We will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out for nine metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.40pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1110M)

Hell March is the shorts here but with the one and half kilo weight swing for Daitanna who finished behind it at Murwillumbah I just think at the $7.50 it is the value in the race and happy to play the race that way with the rail out.

Race 2: Benchmark 65 (1650M)

Rock the Sunrise was flying when beaten less than a length by Our Benefactor who is one of Laming’s stars at the moment. From the middle alley I can see him pushing forward to sit only a few pairs off them and out in trip this run looks a nice recipe.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)

Champagne Tower was a $51 shot last start on a day where you needed to be on speed and the winner looked smart but she came flying through the pack bursting out late. That run suggests the 1350M will only see her improve significantly and if they are running on she is a nice bet in this race.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1350M)

Trump Card to break the maiden today. Once again Our Benefactor form lines and is four placings from five start over this trip. The low draw will mean he will save every bit of ground and that should see him winning this race.

Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1200M)

Keep Safe has been keeping the punters wallets safe by just flying of late. It was a really strong win last start over 1200M at the Sunshine Coast sitting outside the lead and from barrier four I can see a similar run in transit. If he is as strong today as he was there he will take some beating.

Race 6: Class 5 (1700M)

Not keen at all this race, but if your desperate, Demon Darb has nice second up statistics and the stable is absolutely flying at the moment.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1650M)

There is value here away from the favourite. Red Defcon franked the from of Free Carry from last start by winning Saturday and Free Carry won that race on a dynamite leader bias track. Badda Boom Baby was out of the pack with Red Defcon and is 1/2 this trip and from barrier two with a drop in weight she is a really great bet here.

Race 8: Class 1 (1110M)

Not keen at all this race, slight queries around Ser Joh and the form there, Data Leak is the value.
