Can I lift today and finally churn out a best bet and a few other winners, the move back to Doomben after rain overnight does not light me up with confidence but here we are. The rail is now out nine and a half metres and we find ourselves on a soft 7 track with the potential for more rain and the first race to jump at 1.43pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1650M)
The maiden to start the day is interesting, Paper Doll comes in with seconds galore but in behind Swag last start who was disappointing and prior was in behind War King who the jury is also out on. French Riviera has been great this preparation and I have a bit of an opinion of Kurithea so that form can hold up here for Chau stable.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1650M)
Another maiden over the mile, much hard race this and staying away.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1110M)
This is nice little sprint race here with a few chances going around. Toro Chase goes on top for Mason and buckets Moor. Comes to this race after trials in late December and than early January suggesting perhaps there was either an issue or they were fine tuning. Either way form last preparation behind Metal Man and subsequent race beating home our boy Encrypted Feeling, if he has improved anything like he trialled yesterday this looks a nice bet.
Race 4: Class 4 (1650M)
This race looks like a race in two with both Kadall and Aratiri the two I think will be fighting out the finish. Kadall was well backed at the Gold Coast last start and found trouble, was a poor steer and had not luck. Prior to that was in behind Bengal Diamond who’s since won and Silver Wedding who was flying prior. While Aratiri will lead them off with Harley on I think Kadall can get on the board here.
Race 5: Class 1 (1350M)
Well they have not made this one that easy either, Heavenly Impact on rating and prior performances is obviously the one to beat hence the price but Fireforce was an absolute moral beaten last start and flew late. If Heavenly Impact gets caught on the rail it may be trouble so I am going the way of Fireforce but take the quinella for insurance.
Race 6: Benchmark 68 (2240M)
Well its hard to say what the outcome will be here but Lenape Vibe did fly from the back last start at Ipswich and does get the services of Osmond now. He will be back in the run but is finally building to the right trip and better setup here. Looks enough pace to make it a genuine staying test as long as the track doesn’t have the speed lanes in action like it has of late.
Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1650M)
Tough little affair this one. Siding the was of Fairway Choice for Franklin and Goldman. With the claim and that nice second up run last start the Gold Coast she gets her chance here today. I do think she was in best part of the track at the coast but happy to stick with from a similar draw although would like her to sit a little more handy.
Race 8: Class 6 (1350M)
Ser Joh is the class in this race and has the form this preparation to finally be saluting. Has been shifted around in trip this time in and was caught off guard two back behind against Hawker Hall but prior has form around Chief Witness and since in behind Battlefield. I think the way it has played out for him he just wins this today.
