Forget the upcoming Cup week, this is simply Mugsmania this Wednesday. With three runners at Doomben today we are jumping out of our skin and it’s a monster seven race card. We will be racing on a soft 6 track with the rail out six metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.33pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1350M)
It is the David Vandyke show here. We are signing up with Wowzino here the form around Brutal Bowler should be superior to this lot and while may need a run to get fit class will take him a long way here.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
Free As The Wind has been pretty good but this is his fifth run this preparation so may be coming to the end of it. Private Equity come through a run in August behind subsequent winners. First up she was a little flat but will improve of the back of that with a strong rider in Noel Callow on can atone second up.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
This race has a few with exposed form and a couple that have been going around and around, happy to steer clear of this race and wait for mug mania.
Race 4: Benchmark 62 (1600M)
Our boy Rhodes coming off a nice last start win is on the quick back up here and is placed nicely from barrier nine. He probably does want a little further but will be forward in the run and with the rail only out six he will give this pack something to chase. Second Son from the low draw and stepping out to the mile is also well suited.
Race 5: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
Another even race here, Sultry Siren, goes around here and was good from back and wide in the field. The draw is no better here but third up and with Bailey claiming, he will improve third up and there looks enough pace inside that that he will get his chance to run on.
Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
Yet another mugs runner lines up here, Sir Carter barrier six and he will be forward in the run here. The two main chances in John Rambo and Boom Shot get back. Sir Carter gets the chance to lead and he gets his chance to hold, but I Am A Marvel is the other on pace runner that I will be specking here.
Race 7: Class 2 (1350M)
Tuff Tu Mus is the one here, fourth up and drawn in barrier eight he should be winning this. Keen to see our boy Kenichi for his first run this preparation. From barrier four he should be able to get this long stride rolling and will improve lengths off today.
