Doomben | April 3

Well after both major race days cancelled this week we are finally back on track and have a soft 7 track. We have the with the rail out eight metres and the first race to jump at 11.52pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1650M)

This is a super even race to start the day and with the big fields and generally average form across the board we are steering clear of this one.

Race 2: Open Handicap (1650M)

Transatlantic here comes in as the odds on favourite but will be lumping the sixty kilos and is the first attempt over this distance. I have sided with Showdra with slightly better form over the longer trip and she was first up last start. She comes to this with a run under the belt and a low draw she can be winning here.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Maiden, mostly first starters, monster field, hard pass.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)

Another utterly impossible race with first starters once again, no confidence here.

Race 5: MAIDEN (1110M)

A few of the more fancied runners here have drawn really poorly and over a trip where the barrier is key I thought we could steer clear of the top two. Polarising has form around our bloke Sir Carter and with the low draw and early speed, and back slightly in trip he is a great each way bet here.

Race 6: Benchmark 65 (1650M)

Once again I think there is a bit of value here as well. It is between Cool Encounter and Milward I feel and I have sided with he latter. They have both drawn well but I thought the first up tough hit out at Ipswich and first go this trip sets up nicely for Milward who should be leading and with really good soft track form and services of Robbie Dolan he can be winning here.

Race 7: Class 2 (1350M)

Pretty simple here, Miss Jolene just looks a class above this lot. Her Sydney form and prior from up here in the JJ Atkins with a perfect first up record should be enough for her to salute authoritatively here today at midweek Brisbane racing.

Race 8: Open Handicap (1200M)

A few of my favourites go around here but the barriers certainly weren’t kind. Astero looks the obvious and have gone that way after a dominant first up win at Kembla and then coming straight up to Brisbane for an open handicap. He gets the claimer engaged and with the low draw can camp behind them and has the best genuine wet track from in the race which will be advantageous on a day like today after the rain we have had the last week or so.

Race 9: Benchmark 65 (1350M)

Extremely tough race, the favours are solely with the favourite Helikedempretty, so if you are having a bet that is the way I would head. She does often have a flatter second up run which we saw last start but bounces back third up and should be leading so fingers crossed the inside is not off today.

Race 10: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

It certainly doesn’t get any easier to finish the day the but the in form Neasham yard has brought one up with Sydney form around Stromboli and Able Willie and for a race like this you would think it can be good enough after a solid first up hit out. Marnu jumps aboard Pole Position and takes weight off the back as well which should really assist.
