Doomben | April 23

Doomben again for this midweek race meeting and back to the standard eight race card. We will be racing on a soft 6 track with the rail out ten metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (2060M)

The first race of the day is a long distance maiden, so happy to pass.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)

Starsonus should be hard to beat here with form around Noble Decree who is building nicely. The barrier draw here for the favourite is very unkind and could be what beats him. First Man comes to this off a nice first up effort and the low draw and positivity from Rodd he can break the maiden today.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1110M)

Ritualise the only proven horse but most of them are largely unraced, happy to pass.

Race 4: Benchmark 68 (1660M)

They need to hold a position on Texas Fireball here but if they can the step out in trip will suit nicely and seemed to have a bit in the tank latest when peeling wide around them. He was slightly held up in the straight then eased to the line for an encouraging third.

Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1200M)

We are backing up again after last week with Alpha Bravo, we get the booking of senior jockey Ryan Maloney here and drawn well again on a soft track instead of heavy will be advantageous.

Race 6: Class 1 (1200M)

We are going to forgive the last start of King Potter on a heavy track, back to the soft here and his runs last preparation were in behind Give Me Space and Boomtown Boss who is flying, that form looks too classy here and he should be in the front couple of pairs this race and get back to his winning ways.

Race 7: Class 5 (1200M)

Well I find it pretty darn hard to catch John Rambo even though he has won four of fifteen races. He should be too good here off a really nice first up run up the inside knocking off Thankyou Henry and Mean Approach, the other main chance here is Bohemian Lad, play them both for a result here.

Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1350M)

There looks to be a lot of pace here with Lumens Lenny, Speed Map and Boys Night Out. If they do go crazy up front the well drawn Trapedo down in the weights with Cejay on can go boom over the top late.  They will need to be able to run on though, so if the track is leader bias, punt carefully.
