The heavens have opened and the rail gets pushed back to the 0.5m, what could possibly be the concern? Well let's do this preview thinking it'll be upgraded to a Heavy 15 come race-day.

The track rating. Doomben is notorious for retaining more water than Spongebob in Ian Thorpe's play house.

Handicap racing has well and truly taken over this meeting as the 2 & 3YO's try and stamp their mark towards a Winter Carnival campaign.

The race of the day comes in R5 ( 1350m HCP) where Wren's Day goes around the $2.20 favorite. Ventura Ocean franking the form again, it's the clear on topper however with a class animal like Vanna Girl ready for her first up assignment she could certainly throw a spanner in the works onwards to some Group races.

The Quaddie (R6-R9) sees the Gollan yard out in force with the return of the smart Snappy Reply in R8. Snappy Reply hasn't been seen for almost a year on the racetrack, but did nothing wrong in her first preparation, holding her own against the likes of Dusty Tycoon, Minjee + Broken Hero.

And finally it wouldn't be a day out at Doomben without the weekly 'Chris Waller Invitational', this week run over the 2000m trip.

Waller heads the field here with Humbolt Current (pictured below), who although disappointing last start, meets Romakash better at the weights on the HCP scale and the market well and truly believes in him to turn the tables on the heavy track

It looks to be a tricky day at Doomben for Mugs everywhere, be sure to listen to our full preview Podcast by clicking HERE as we dissect the winners across every race at Doomben for the Mugs all around the globe.
