Beaudesert Preview 01/04/2021

We get in to the LamMUGhini and head south an hour to 'Can't believe we're going to Beaudesert' Beaudesert Racecourse. We've got a 7 Race Country Racing spectacle that will certainly excite the Mugs as we search low and wide for a winner.

The rail is in the true position and with a straight of about 250m, it will suit those runners that can put themselves on speed and make their own luck. With the weather looking ominous, we'll be looking at our form for a soft deck.

We kick off the day with a belter of a maiden over the 1350 and the odds on Carrefour dominates the market with McGillivray to steer. We're steering clear of the favourite however, and going with the locals. Ben Ahrens saddles up Henry Reef here who had a complete forgive run on debut; it missed the jump, burnt the candle early and was still game enough to finish fourth at Ipswich. The form since has been franked with Master Richard an impressive winner at Ipswich on Tuesday. Let's go Wiggo.

Happy to have a nice dabble on the Hulbert trained Meteor Light in Race 2. The odds won't make us heroes but the step back in grade from a Metropolitan Open Handicap to a country BM62 is nothing but a positive. Ryan Maloney takes the ride and we believe Brisbane's leading rider can just sit and steer here.

Race 3 brings us to the 2YO's. We've got a blended mix of form-lines spiraling into a wonderful spectacle over the 1200m. Les Ross brings the performed Mishani pair to town, Kacy Fogden brings a debutant and Corey Bayliss jumps on Rittzier for her debut who has yet to be seen at the trials. This is a race the Mugs will be resisting a bet.

It's not too often Matthew Dunn goes to Beaudesert, maybe once in a Blue Kentucky Moon. Gun hoop Ryan Maloney takes the ride here in Race 4 and if he brings his best form he should be handling this field eased down. He’s shown enough early toe from the gate to put himself on speed and with Ready To Chase to do it tough from barrier nine, he should have the dream run in transit, sitting behind the leading pair. Clear on topper for the Mugs

We go from a few handy three-year-olds, to a classic Beaudesert Battlers field. Good luck to all connections involved here but we'll take the high road here. A few stories in this field which is what the great game is all about. Lunar Lustre goes looking for win number two from start 41 and the Buttersworth runner, Shadyvale Serenade is the only runner in this field to have ten starts or less. I think we'll move on to Race 6 before we talk ourselves into something.

Now we've moved on to Race 7 and we find an obvious favourite here. Maloney hops aboard the Matthew Dunn-trained Tolerate, which is ironic as this horse has certainly tested the tolerance of punters. A beaten favourite on 5 different occasions this daughter of So You Think has only won once but has had plenty of chances. She shows early speed and will have all of the favours here; barrier one, some cut in the ground, QLD's leading jock on board. Let's get the job done Tolerate.

The boys line up in the last over the 1200m with Halycon Days your early favourite. With his best runs coming with little to no pressure and on top of the ground, it's hard to make a case for the favourite. Unfortunately for the Mugs, we're unable to make a case for anything else in the Get Out Stakes, so we're going to take our winnings, get the hell out of Beaudesert and get ready for a terrific race night at Toowoomba.
