Townsville Preview 27/04/2021

A nice eight race card has been assembled for Townsville on Tuesday afternoon as the Winter Carnival starts to shape up. The track is rated a Soft 7 and the rail is out 5.5m from the 1000m to the Winning Post and 4m for the remainder of the course.

Now just because it's a good card, does not make it an easy card. We're still hungover from the public holiday yesterday so chances are I couldn't really read half of these horses names being obliterated also strengthens the case to bypass Race 1.

Husette lines up in the second in the famous Orange and Yellow ‘H’ silks and should be justifying her short quote. The two-year-old Husson filly has had four starts for two wins and a third and comes off a dominant win when heavily backed first up at this track over the 1000m. Up to 1200m looks to be no concern. Drawn barrier three, she should be right there on the bunny and be winning.

Race 3 it's time for some hair of the dog kind of vibes; will be watching on the royal throne.

Race 4 looks to be a race in 2, and certainly think that's the quinella play. Silent Explorer's last start 2nd behind Cinnamon Missile jumps out here yet Last Chance meets an easier field here! You know what they say, back both, grab a beer with ya winnings. Honestly cant split them, hoping we double our money with the boxed quinella.

We're ever evolving here at Mugs HQ and we need a winning approach after Doomben's strip out on Saturday, so you'll see us twiddling our thumbs until Race 7 where winning form IS the form. John Manzelmann’s Cinnamon Missile got the job done for us at This track and trip last start and we are confident he can go on with the job in this. He has always raced out of his own grade, so the Benchmark 75 conditions shouldn’t be an issue given his racing record. Drawn low in gate two under Bobby El-Issa, he won’t have much to chase and can be winning.

Roy Chillemi has three smart ones in the last race of the day, and while the ratings and weights suggest that Waterway is his lesser chance, we are confident he will get the conditions to suit. Drawn the middle of the line in gate six, Scott Sheargold will have this three-year-old gelding midfield with cover and can be finishing the better with 56.5kg. He’s undefeated at 1200m and has two wins at Cairns which will suit. He’s right in this.
