Can you FEEEEEEL that Mugs, it's the belting of more and more rain as we prepare for a wet Saturday, as per usual, the Mugs put their pea brains together to find 9 winners. You can watch this week's episode of Make QLD Racing Great Again below:
Or, you can listen on Spotify here:
Nonetheless, we're going to need a bank to launch into tomorrow, so why not have a red hot crack at a wet Sunshine Coast track tonight? Race 1 kicks us off from 5:38pm and believe it or not (for QLD Racing) we have stacked fields over the 8 races.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1800M)
Well, when we talk peak racing, THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN. No bet... Na surely you don't believe that! The favourite looks the goods on paper and has a bit of heavy track form but the Mugs are going to make a case for an ex-mexican at the odds. Roanoke has her first start for John Edmunds and Hellyer takes the steer, an ex Victorian who found her feet getting over the distance with a last start 4th over the 2050m. Hoping that residual fitness to be key here as back to the 1800m off a freshen up should be ideal, her only start on the heavy was a 1350m at Donald where se probably came home the best over a trip too short, so think she'll handle the ground.
Race 2: Class 4 (1600M)
Wowza. A 4 horse field! We could box up the 4 and still miss the first 4. No form anywhere should ever end up with Drumadoir a $1.50 favourite, roughy in small fields? That IS the play, but there's no play here from the Mugs
Race 3: MELBOURNE STORM MAIDEN HCP (1200m)
Port Office has a special place in a lot of Mugs hearts, not because the horse is any good but more so the memories of my shoes sticking the floors at 2am there every Thursday and Friday night slurping down Jagerbomb after Jagerbomb. Back to it, Devil will roll along here, have a look at that record (16: 0-0-0) which sets it up nicely for Five Cherrys to sit off the pace to have the run of the race. Back from 1400m is a tick as this 1200m on a heavy track will feel like that. Two starts back just hit the front too early on a heavy deck at the Gold Coast, then last start was just a forgive at the Greyhound track that is Beaudesert.
Race 4: BM62 HCP (1200M)
We finally have a deserved clear favourite here which lights the Mugs up like the TAB Air Conditioning Room. Dejanova gets the home ground advantage for McCall Racing and superstar Killa Kilner takes the 1.5KG off to give it a handy swing on Sip It Slow and All Stars who the 4YO beat home last start. Keen.
Race 5: Class 2 SW (1000M)
What a handy little Friday Night special, there is some class here. Queen Sweeper is a good horse and The Mugs are excited to see Bundyandcoke return to the races who also boasts a 2/2 record on a heavy. Queen Sweeper did a tonne of work in the Jewel race so it's to say whether she handles the slop, even Mishani Fraudster (who is exactly that) is 2 wins from 19 starts in which both were on a heavy! There's not a lot of value for us here Mugs, but have an obligatory Rum and Coke because why not.
Race 6: BM70 (1000M)
The Zingalong fans sigh again, we go up $2.70 favourite from the wide draw! There is pace everywhere here, Logan's Blade, Belle’s Pluck and Hidden Eyes all show tactical speed but the one we think just is simply quicker is All To Do. From barrier 1 it'll be a catch me if you can job here. Think they tested the waters with the trip last prep to get a big fat no, at the 1000, that's THE GO.
Race 7: Class 1 (1400M)
Geeez, this is rough and tough. Save ya pennies and have a bet at the 3800m highweight that goes around at Moonee Valley in 10 minutes.
I mean if ya Muggin, it's the Stuart Kendrick Racing Class 1 Handicap, he has Pool Pony in here, so there's that
Race 8: BM65 (2200M)
Usually this is the easy race, it's the 'Other Gollan in the last Get Out Stakes', unfortunately for us he's go the favourite in here in Shebringzit, who does not 'bring' any wet weather form, 0/5 on a soft is a big no for us. Neither does the second in the market Ostermeier but geeeeee he is still hitting the line from that last start at Ipswich. By Lucas Cranach he'll relish getting up in trip and this 2200 on a heavy might feel like a 3200m race, Rapaport is well in the market tomorrow so it's a short way home but think he'll be able to storm home past Mr Reddington who will set a solid tempo and break Lloydy‘s heart once again.
