Rocky 3/8/21

Seven races will be run and won at Royal Rockhampton today on a Good 4 deck with the rail out 7m. The first of those is set to go at 1:17pm, with the last at 5:07pm.

We're in lockdown in SEQ, the rest of the nation probably is too - we're oblivious to other states remember - so we may as well bet all day. Seven races; seven bets. Boom.

We kick the day off with the 3YOs and it is a bit of the raced brigade vs the unraced brigade. We are siding with the latter and jumping on the Still Feeling It train. The Graeme Green-trained gelding has had two trials, winning one and running second in the other, both over 900m at Rocky and has been strong in both, so the 1100m on debut should be up his alley. By Sepoy, he looks a ready-made runner. Matt McGillivray on from barrier three should see the debutant box seat and be hard to beat.

In the second, we have got an 11-horse Maiden over the 1400m. Some of these will never win one, with 132 runs between the 11 of them, BUT, there's always a but... Tom Smith's Tabman only contributes to two of them. The brother to Paniagua ran third on debut, before running fifth to the smart Hamlet Von Snitzel who won very well at Doomben on Wednesday #FORMLINES. Barrier five a plus, 1400m a BIG plus, 10 donkeys to race against an even BIGGER plus.

We aren't laying The Egyptian by any means, but $1.20? COME ON!? Shane Sigvart has a very good sprinter in Chezblack who comes off a third to Aleysa's Dream and Bring It Home Pop at this track and trip last time out. The Foxwedge mare will get back in the run from barrier one, but there looks plenty of speed to set it up for her to finish over the top of them in one fell swoop. Her start prior when less than 3L off Last Chance looks very handy in the form-guide.

There aren't too many combinations better than the Wehlow and Butler combo in CQ at the moment, but one that might give them a run for their money is Avocados and Sunsets, so that's where we are going. Avocado Sunset was unbeaten in CQ at the end of last prep, winning three straight in good fashion, before being tipped out for a spell. First-up, he drifted in the market while the other Wehlow runner got well-backed, so you know how the story goes there. From barrier eight, Butler will send the speedy son of Deep Field forward and should just keep on running.

The fifth is a fairly open Class 1 Handicap. Good mates of the Mugs have Bring Me Showers going around, and they have even booked MUGWIGGO for the ride. There's been plenty of market support, her trial was good leading up to this, and she has drawn favourably in barrier four. Hopefully there is plenty of speed which will let her work into the race quite nicely.

The boys have another runner in the sixth with Angola Miss for Tommy Smith and Ash Butler who comes off a good run when wide throughout a fortnight ago. She is a three-times winner at the mile and has a top jockey on board from yet another good gate. In saying that though, we thought Ketchikan Gold from the marble would be the runner to get the favours in the run and take some serious running down. He was very good three starts back when he had to really fight, so we are happy to be with him here.

#WIGGOINTHELAST - Need we say more? Revenire is the clear class in this race and comes through the Mackay Newmarket when beaten only 4.5L by Right or Wrong. Barrier three looks ideal, a moderate tempo will assist and he should have the class to get home under the arches.
