Seven races will be run and won in the Sugar City (Mackay for all you southerners) on Tuesday afternoon. Good 4 conditions are in order and the rail is out 3m for the entirety.
Just six runners make up the first race and the market has it down to three main chances. Wiggo does the steering on ex-Waller runner Sayl who has had two runs in CQ now for two minor placings. He chased well behind Bantu Bay last start and a repeat of that effort can see him winning in this.
Yeah, you read the form guide correctly. Cochrane is on debut for the John Manzelmann stable after running second to Alpine Edge on debut at Listed level and then having two below par runs at Randwick and the Sunshine Coast. This is miles easier, he has plenty of class and we are getting $3 about him. Wiggo mate, it's simple - sit and steer.
This is the one we've been waiting for Mugs. We have our very own Mug Runner going around in Cool Intelligence. The market has it down to three chances; Gamboa, Ask Me Tomorrow and our girl, and we couldn't agree more. For what it's worth, bias aside, I thought Ask Me Tomorrow's trial was super and he can be firing fresh, but it'll be pocket talk aside and the pom-poms out for our girl Connie.
Skip the fourth, we'll either be three bottles of Moet & Chandon deep in the winner's room or will have thrown the remote through the TV screen depending on how Connie goes in the third, so we won't see this one; it's full of average joes anyway.
The fifth is a pretty average race again, but we think Hilflager should justify his favouritism. The three-year-old son of Starspangledbanner was a tough winner at Rocky last start, leading all of the way to kick and win by 1.5 lengths despite being headed at the 200m. He should find the front under Wiggo and be dickin' and lickin' them.
The penultimate is a real battle between the king and queen. John Manzelmann vs Trinity Bannon is one for the ages and they combine to saddle up six of the nine runners in this. We will be sitting out.
The final race of the afternoon presents as a good chance to have a bet on the toppie Sequablur. Jared Wehlow's gelding was good last start when third behind Star Of O'Reilly and Gamboa after trying to lead all of the way. He will be in the right part of the track (the front) after crossing from barrier 11 and can ne running this field of Benchmark 55ers into the ground.
