Ipswich | April 24

Writer: Mugs PuntingMugs Punting

We have been spoilt with a few cracking midweek race days in town and well it is time we venture back out west to the infamous Bundamba race track. We will be racing  on a heavy 8 track. We have the with the rail out six metres and the first race to jump at 12.00pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1100M)

Well fair to say hope the horse Sivo is faster and fitter than the rugby player, but mostly first starters we are staying out of this one.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1100M)

Another maiden on a heavy deck and Ipswich just hold fire here, we will come out swinging later on.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1690M)

A maiden of the 1690M and Rashford just looks to get the run of the race here. He has some heavy form and should hold the rain and if the inside is the place to be I cannot see them getting past him here.

Race 4: Benchmark 68 (2180M)

Well he was super tough last start and held on, the extra trip is a slight query but from a generous draw Heleva Deel goes on top here with the claimer in Jake Molloy engaged. I think runs on the board and tough horses win these kinds of races and Heleva Deel is both of those.

Race 5: Class 4 (1690M)

The class four here is a pretty competitive race and most are in with a real live chance. I was keen on Cool Encounter last start and while some of the form out of that race has failed some impressed over the weekend with Aldeenaary. Dropping back in weight and over a suitable trip suits with the wet track the only query.

Race 6: Class 2 (1666M)

Bzzzzt, forgive me but have not heard of most of this field, save your pennies.

Race 7: MAIDEN (1350M)

Johnny Da Wolf looks a nice bet here. Was in behind Velozes last start and that form was further franked by Wallers runner the race following. This bloke is fourth up and from a middle alley and James Orman on he should get the run of the race to climb over them late.

Race 8: Class 1 (1350M)

We had Exceed Speed here last start winning but there is an interesting runner down the bottom in Black Opium. This horse beat home Mr Mozart over in New Zealand and that horse was classy early on down in Sydney in some very high quality races. She only just got there first up and if she handles the travel the $3.40 could be an absolute gift.

Race 9: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

I thought Cassrock was pretty good first up, and the heavy track here really suits. Cejay gets the claim and from barrier five should get the drop on them coming around the corner.
