Group One Review

Ranvet Stakes - Verry Elleegant

It was the two horse marathon we all expected and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Angel of Truth was a massive run and prevented Addeybb from leading on his own up front and we think this was the difference. A drying track probably did not help Addeybb but Verry Elleegant got one of the rides of the day in a small field, he sat just off Tom Marquand and never let him get away. A+ from JMAC. Both of these horses are in for a big go during The Championships.

Rosehill Guineas - Mo’unga

Mo’unga showed that Randwick Guineas run was as impressive as we all thought; and it was the key form line coming into this. They all made their moves before the corner which was massive and those out wide managed to run the leaders down. The race favourite gave Annabel Neasham her maiden Group 1 victory, proving too strong over the extra trip which proved the key. Montefilia was too far back but absolutely charged late and is one to follow out of this race with Khoekhoe pretty brave out in front a long way from home.

George Ryder Stakes - Think It Over

Dreamforce was taken on up front which did set up a pretty good tempo for this race and run on horses from the back. The winner Think It Over had a superb steer from the Bossman. Avilius was a complete forgive run after settling last and was second last at the three hundred metre mark. From there, he barged his way out and just missed. Dalasan was chopped out so not dismissing and Funstar I think it is time we all moved on from her. Not sure where she goes now; probably the Doncaster, but we can’t have her.

Golden Slipper - Stay Inside

What a race the Slipper was in the end! Stay Inside looked comfortable tearing the field apart late. The son of Extreme Choice was just too strong, bouncing back after the Todman Stakes. Anamoe continues to just back it up start after start and this run was no exception with Godolphin rounding out the trifecta with Ingratiating finishing third. We are keen to see the Blue Diamond winner Artorius over further as he was absolutely airborne late. Another cracking edition of the race.

The Galaxy - Eduardo

This was simply a one act affair. Eduardo had come through probably the best of form lines when he knocked off Nature Strip in track record time in The Challenge Stakes and just dictated this one out in front. We query whether the 1100M is right at the pointy end of his best trip, but he rated through the roof for this win. Best run out of the race was Dirty Work, he was in behind them the entire straight and once he snagged a gap he poke through to just miss the placings, finishing fourth behind Jonker. 1200m will be right up his alley later in the Carnival.

We now turn our attention back to Rosehill Gardens for this coming Saturday where we will see both the Tancred Stakes and the Vinery Stud Stakes run at Group 1 level before The Championships kick off in a fortnight's time.
