Doomben Preview 28/07/2021

Writer's picture: BeanBean

Well with the news last week around the Eaglefarm track we are of course back on the hallowed turf of Doomben and we get the rail out 9 metres and Soft 5 conditions, always is soft at Doomben that’s your best of the year.

In race we have a maiden over the 16

50M and with the shoot start and an open field like this it is pass from the mugs. In second however we have a 1200M class three and his name is Michael Costa and his stable is what the mugs like to describe as flying! Morethannumberone comes here after a smart win at Grafton and prior to that had two fairly smart trials. He should improve second up and with the rail out nine metres running on shouldn’t be of concern.

The third event on the card is actually pretty competitive and while we mugs love a bet there is about four in this market that all have a genuine chance in my opinion. Americana Magic will definitely be hard to hold out leading so if you just cannot help yourself then that’s the way I would be playing it.

As the great man Lloydy would say Rocky form is the best form and there is one here that has been super. Hamlet Von Snitzel knows only one way and with the cracking draw in barrier one will be leading and hammering away out in front. The 1350M could be a test but the this bloke won at the long straight up North suggests that a tight turning leaderish Doomben track should be no problems.

If you are prepared to put it all on the line and have a dabble at the Quaddie then best of luck to you in the fifth and the sixth

as they are absolute stinkers in terms of punting. The fields couldn’t be more even and you get a sprint and a middle distance disaster to work through.

We quickly move on to the seventh event a

nother one down from Rockhampton drawn in barrier two is the on topper here. Tycoon Bella has never run this trip before, but the last trip over the 1400M at Rocky she looked to show she will easily run the 1650M and all the favours from the inside draw.

In the final event Next Dimension gets the best jockey in the state and perhaps one of the best draws and does like to be on the pace. Has been up since May and this is his sixth run this prep so whil

e there are concerns of perhaps one too many but has been improving every run. Stays at the 1350M and with pace on from inside and out should be able to sit one back one out and be too strong late.
