Doomben Preview 06/10/2021

Well after a cracking long weekend with the NRL Grand Final, talk of white powder celebrations and another winner for the flying Hulbert stable we are back at Doomben for another seven race mid-week card.

Maloney and Vandyke team up early in the first on the first starter Oslen coming off a nice trial. However we have sided with the Jason Edwards trained Pentito for his fourth career start. Should be leading from the draw and with form around Indeep and Devastating happy to be with the tried and tested galloper here at the price.

Happy to leave the maiden event with most of the runners only having there second or third start just looks a bit too tricky. Good luck to the Hulbert’s with Capital Girl in again for her second run.

There looks to be a nice quinella play in the next with both Sienna’s Choice and Montez well in the market but rightly so. We are siding with the later here in Montez who Jaden sticks with and gets the three kilo claim and while he is drawn out with only eight runners he should be able to cross. Once in the lead I think he will be able to control this from the front and could be over a long way from home.

The fourth is a race that just brings disappointment and reminders of money lost. We have backed a few of these before including Regal Edition, Volunteer who is always running on and even the thirty-one start maiden Jimmy Neutron. From the draw Regal Editions should win but I think its best to save your pennies for later on in the day.

After the week the Capewell’s have had we just need to jump back aboard the Sir Warwick train that is going all the way to the bank. Led throughout again last start and was too strong. Steps up again here and drops half a kilo. Kavak is the only query and whether Sir Warwick gets taken on but Kurt won the premiership on Sunday and there is no reason his brother Jake cannot cash in on the winning here.

In the penultimate it’s a case of how good is Merimee versus how good is the form around Morethannumberone with the red hot favourite Neutron. The Waller stable look to have found one here in Merimee. She has gobbled up two pretty smart fields and looks to add another here. With Neutron drawn out and Rich Lister potentially booting up from the inside Merimee should be able to sit just off them in this smaller field and has the turn of foot to put this to bed pretty quickly.

The final event there looks to be a fair bit of pace and two short priced favourtie’s taking each other on but there is value here in the Munce runner Berdini’s Girl. First up here this prep after two trials the last of which she won. Prior to that came through the listed Oxlade behind Uncommon James and then a nice third in a two year old handicap to Miss Hipstar and there have been winners out of that race. Completely missed in the market here and will be hunting them down late.
