Well after the first day of the Carnival at the home of Stradbroke Day, Eaglefarm we return to the home of mid weeks back at the Mugs paradise race track Doomben. We have David Van Doomben back here and boy oh boy he has brought some absolutely outstanding up and coming young horses to this surprisingly strong mid-week event. What a way to start this cracking day with a maiden over the 1050M and with the pace drawn out and a Good 4 track with the rail out 7 metres the entire course the mugs have done a quick review and will be moving on quickly.
James McDonald has gone back to Warwick Farm for this midweek event but perhaps he should have stayed in this Wednesday perhaps he should be up at Doomben riding The Move. Comes here after a sharp win last start by 2.50 lengths and will be in behind the two hot leaders Derulo and Exactamente. IN a small field he shouldn’t find any trouble and if Big Benny sits just off them round the corner this should be an easy kill back to his home track in Brisvegas after a nice win down south.
Race three is a two year old handicap and with a field of thirteen starters with most being lightly raced it is impossible to line these up. Lets move on to the next race where David Van Doomben lines up his stable star in Orbisyn. He has come out and one his first three races by a combined margin of 13 lengths and this should be no different. Draws in barrier five should be leading from there and while I wont be launching in at the $1.15 enjoy the ride and fingers crossed we have another Queensland superstar in the making.
The next event is a race of largely non winners and for that reason I am going to find that every elusive winner. Smart Meteor comes to this off a sharp first up effort at the Sunny Coast and with fitness on his side I think he holds on to win that race. Gets that edge here is a second up specialist and does handle this track. Will be just off the pace here from the draw and stalking the whole way will get a similar trip to the run at the coast and should be too strong late.
A benchmark 70 is the sixth race of the day and we have a few prior Saturday runners lining up here and that is where I have turned my attention. Starosa looked to have the run of the race last start in behind Holyfield and was run down late. Sticking here off that effort and with Maloney back on deck and with that track and distance record it is impossible to ignore. In a wide open race $5 is a super price.
In the penultimate David Van Doomben gets around the mugs for a value second leg to the multi of Weona Smartone after Orbisyn earlier and both should get you just over $1.40….VALUE MUGS VALUE! Pretty simple here like Orbisyn will be leading and on the corner Maloney will turn and wave at the others and that will be all she wrote here.
The final event presents a few prospects and while I have a pretty good opinion of express fantasy that draw and its racing pattern is a bit of a trap. I think the top couple in the market decide this race in Palaispan and Express Fantasy but because I cannot split them will not be launching into either, good luck mugs.
