After a mug trip to Sydney, seeing the Rockhampton champion dominate the mid-week racing is back at Eagle Farm. We have what will surely be a good 4 track with the sun out and summer style weather around with the rail out eleven metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.38pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1000M)
Desanto was good without winning the other day but drawn low again on with the rail position suiting on pace dominant horses should suit this horse. Taylor Marshall remains on board and hopefully second up this preparation the filly can be saluting.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1400M)
Not keen this race at all. Delicious Derek looked well beaten then fought back last start when we were on but there is nothing here jumping off the page so happy to stay out of this race.
Race 3: Class 1 (1600M)
The mile for this class 1 and the top weight Busker has been up a while but sure this will any more of a winnable race than previously. Heroic Rebel for Gollan looks a nice horse and last start at Ipswich had to swing wider on the corner, that cost him the race as the other two in the photo both came through the field. Prior to that was in behind Bit of Grunt who has since won and that field had more depth than this. Keen to be with him.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1400M)
The market suggests this is a race in two and it certainly does look that way. Don’t Doubt Missy will be flying home late in this race but in a small field with a lack of pace the other fancied runner Astern Effort will be leading and with the rail out that is the way we are leaning.
Race 5: Class 1 (1200M)
What a race this is, Berezka, Dismantle, then if Desanto bolts in earlier you would like the chance Rewrite wins this but maiden to class 1 can sometimes be step up for them. Ikasara is interesting here, had a nice win early in the career but now just looks a little average. I have landed on Saint Aldwyn here from the lower draw who controlled the race well last start, I think will be even better if he can take a sit in this bigger field.
Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1000M)
There should be a very strong tempo in this race and for that reason keen to back on that will be running on. Galactic Star was good late at the Gold Coast and prior to that won well on a heavy track here at Eagle Farm. Ben Thompson remains on board for Kendrick and I think this Star Turn gelding can be winning again.
Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1800M)
This is Gollan vs Kropp vs Waller. I think that Addition looks to be the one here. First up behind Tomba was a really nice run then flew home and just missed Lupine over the mile here at the Farm. She has drawn to receive every favour from barrier five and is the best of the day on an even card of racing.
Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1400M)
No, this race is the classic clean you out after a good days racing. All sorts of form all over the shop here. Happy to steer clear.
