Doomben | April 1

Doomben is where we head today and looks like they have adjusted the race numbers again with a meagre seven race card. We have the rail out five metres for the entire course with the first race to jump at 1.38pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)

There is a real lack of exposed form in the first today and for that reason I am staying out, Tony has one up from down South first up after a few trials and the Lees team has the other fancied runner, follow the market between those two.

Race 2: Class 5 (1350M)

A really small field here and all pretty evenly matched. Yoshino comes off a nice win at the coast and knocked off a couple of regular mid-week runners there in Run Lucy Run, Black Minto and Battleton. Keen to lean that way here at the $4.80 quote.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1630M)

I think just keep this simple, I Am Louie beat everything bar the smart win of Chayse ‘N’ Bodhi last start and gets barrier one today, can sit just off the two leaders who have drawn directly outside and gets every favour. He is third up here today similar distance and will be peaking for Thompson and Gollan.

Race 4: Benchmark 70 (1630M)

Well Divine Source knocked off our Bazinga last start and was ridden a little unexpectedly. Here today though I think Damien will take a sit because there are a few here that will really like to take it up. If he tucks in behind them he can be too strong late with that sprint. Two starts back was knocked off by Cindersea who has since saluted in a Saturday metro race.

Race 5: Class 2 (2030M)

Well do we trust Hot Majesty, I mean he did knock off an average field at the Gold Coast but was convincing, however here today strikes a similar field. Trump Card doesn’t win out of turn and with Galway Flyer being up for a long time I think the Majesty picks himself.

Race 6: Benchmark 70 (1200M)

Is it the day for Amore Veloce, jury still well and truly out there, but Kinross Lane now with Billy Healy gets the key claimer of Jace McMurray and this horse is three from three fresh so yes, it has drawn wide but does go back anyway and if they can run on at all, it will be winning plain and simple.

Race 7: Class 1 (1110M)

Well fair to say seeing the name Breezin in this race is a little triggering. Still only one from thirteen and not sure it is a hope here today either. The race has a long tail but also looks to lack a bit of speed. Climactic was ok first up and improves second up. Last preparation though was in behind Moulin Miss, She Ours and that was after a decent Sydney prep. This race suits and so does the map.
