The Mugs At Trial (Not the Criminal kind)

Geeeez we're back here again! It's like we never left! To give us a wrap, we didn't know we had such an eye for unearthed winners like we did in our last trial report. We spotted Single Memo at $8 if you don't mind and Contemptuous at $1.45 so if that doesn't scream pRo I don't know what does, anyway here's a run down of Tuesday's trials from Doomben for those over the 1000m as well as Heats 1 -5 which where the new season 2YO's, most of which will trial again so it's handy to see the difference trial to trial.

Heat 1 - 840m 2YO C&Gs

Winner: Mishani Warfare (Les Ross)

Time: 51.60

Notes: All jumped relatively well, Palazzo Spirit was hung wide the trip and was never asked to do anything, Mishani Missile the one that was restrained a bit, would love to more a jump and run approach, winner was asked to go along with it.

Horse/s to follow: Palazzo Spirit (O'Dea/Hoysted)

Heat 2 - 840m 2YO C&Gs

Winner: Heroic Sun (P&W Hulbert)

Time: 51.29 (Fastest of the morning)

Notes: Heroic Son did well to settle, was caught wide but was able to get in to rhythm then was able to go again when asked, Schmeichel did a bit wrong, missed the jump then had to kick up to hold a spot but did really well to hold a tempo, the eye catcher was Eye Ain't a Donkey, Jumped the best then was restrained to cruise through very quietly. A trial which you don't see much from the 2YO's.

Horse/s to follow: Heroic Son (PW Hulbert), Schmeichel, (K Fogden) Eye Ain't A Donkey (S Livingston)

Heat 3 - 840m 2YO F

Winner: Mishani Embrace (Les Ross)

Time: 51.55

Notes: Not much too write about here, Mishani Embrace donkeyed em, jump and run filly which is perfect for 2YO Racing, bit of a funny action but looks to have some speed to work with, won't get a price on debut I'd imagine, but we're Mugs so we'll definitely be taking it.

Horse/s to follow: Mishani Embrace (Les Ross)

Heat 4 - 840m 2YO F

Winner: Spanish Angels (Les Ross)

Time: 52.06

Notes: Murky Trial, Spanish Angels was good to win, settled last and come up the inside of horses to win the trial. Shalook looked the one to follow, they came home the slowest in this heat which suggests they set a bit of an early speed, Shalook set the speed and was there all the way to the line under a hold.

Horse/s to follow: Shalook (K Fogden)

Heat 5 - 840m 2YO F

Winner: Merrily (O'Dea & Hoysted)

Time: 51.41

Notes: Hard to make a case for one's in a trial when something streets them, Merrily did it pretty easy, but remember trial form frames markets so you'll get nothing. He head was up in the air for the first half so good to see she was able to settle. One that was just cruising along behind was April in Augusta, Mishani Hood was all over the straight in front of this girl so she was ridden quite most of the straight, she's a Spieth so she'll have a gear.

Horse/s to follow: April In Augusta (K Schweida)

Heats 6 - 14 1000m

Heat 6 - Open

Winner: Alligator Blood (B Healey)

Time: 59.53

Notes: Alligator Blood is still on the comeback trail, let's be honest, he was stoked up here to probably keep getting the fitness right for the Magic Millions, not sure what else we where to expect, I just don't think the horse trials like a superstar. Everything else has exposed form which is not really close to Open HCP form - nope

Horse/s to Follow: None

Heat 7 - Open

Winner: Georgie's Pride (D Forster)

Time: 58.85

Notes: Desert Lord looks to have the Weetwood at his mercy, he's flying. Georgie's Pride is a jump and run, so I guess that's what they wanted out of her. Plutocrat the big watch her, jumped a dream and was never really asked to smash the line. She's a 75 rater compared to some listed winners here, she can sneak a few this prep climbing up the grades.

Horse/s to Follow: Plutocrat (C Anderson)

Heat 8 - Class 2

Winner: Whozyadeeler (T Gollan)

Time: 1:00.18

Notes: Whozyadeeler was there for a confidence spinner, trailled well, hopefully he gets back to his best. Everything else... meh

Horse/s to Follow: none

Heat 9 - Class 2

Winner: Salateen

Time: 59.36

Notes: Top four through the line looked one's to follow. Refero has such a smooth gallop, glad to see he's back post Gelding op, Express Dreams makes the list again (identified last trial files) so shouldn't be too far away from a start.

Horse/s to Follow: Salateen, Refero, Express Dreams

Heat 10 - Class 2

Winner: Shamaton

Time: 1:00.38

Notes: There's scrubbed along and this trial! They were all asked for an effort here, not too bad Reliable Ruby for a horse that's had one start. I thought Flybridge trialled nice and quiet but with 1 win from 10 starts is a bit of a headscratcher, will take him from the trial and hopefully we'll get some odds

Horse/s to Follow: Flybridge (B Lockwood)

Heat 11 - Maiden

Winner: Think Glory (O'Dea & Hoysted)

Time: 1:00.31

Notes: Capital GIrl raced wide the trip but looks like a runner that wants to go, Think Glory was under hard riding a bit out, Capital Girl still unraced.

Horse/s to Follow: Capital Girls (PW Hulbert) - yet to have a start

Heat 12 - Maiden

Winner: Our Mirage (L Abbott)

Time: 59.63

Notes: Our Mirage jumped like a Mirage, then dropped Zavaboom like a hungey through the Brickie;;s laptop. Vital Source came out of the pack first but the winner is who you want to be on.

Horse/s to Follow: Mirage Dancer (L Abbott) - yet to have a start

Heat 13 - Maiden

Winner: Birriecart (O'Dea/Hoysted)

Time: 59.39

Notes: Another potentially good one here for the O'Dea/Hoysted team. There's jump and run and there was Birriecart, jumped smart, cruised through, did a lot of things right, should be close to winning wherever he goes.

Horse/s to Follow: Birriecart (O'Dea/Hoysted)

Heat 14 - Maiden

Winner: Everlast (C Munce)

Time: 59.81

Notes: Another bit of a messy trial, Everlast opened them up and invited Thatfeelsbetter to come home late. Guess who looks smart though, those bloody Blacksoil Bloodstock colours again, Ashgrove never asked to do to much and we know how this works out, still a colt by the looks of it so could be some smart GOllan placement

Horse/s to Follow: Ashgrove (T Gollan)
