Ipswich Best Bets & Preview | April 29

Well this is more like it. Picture this; it's Wednesday, you think midweek racing at Doomben or Eagle Farm. Well, that is a hard no, we are out at Royal Ipswich and The Mugs have another runner! We will be racing on a Soft 6 track with the rain the last few days with the rail out 10m for the entire course while the first race will jump at 12.58pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)

This is the race where you simply stick to those drawn in with the rail position but with a lack of exposed form save your punting bullets for later in the day.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)

I have been sticking with Aristocratic Girl the last couple and while she has run well without winning this setup does look the best of the lot. She stays at 1200M, draws a bit wide but the race looks to lack tempo, and if Georgie can cross them early the fitness will give her the best chance this prep, and also the last chance from my standpoint.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Well the short priced favourite Urban Lad here comes through a hot race a while ago in behind Wooten Hyde and Andi Don’t Care. Yes it did run last but was exposed for most of the trip then faded late. The stable sent him out and he comes back today after a huge trial win. That form looks superior and trust the Harley and Munce combination here.

Race 4: Class 5 (1200M)

This is a tough race, I don’t think any of them can beat Concession out of its last race but also not sure that is the form line either. Matt Dunn brings one out Fragile Love who gets Ben Thompson middle alley and will be back in the run. That generally doesn’t suit here at Ipswich but if Ben is positive enough and she can be close I think at the price that is way I am leaning in a race that will be decided purely on how its run, lets hope they go quick.

Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1710M)

Here we go, the Captain, Captain Eagle that is returns for the mugs and do we have a setup here or what. He draws barrier six, in a decent size field, on a track suiting on pacers, there is a lot to like. First up he almost won at huge odds being run down late and then second up taken on the whole way was brave again. He peaks here third up out to a more suitable trip and he is the one to beat, form only assessment, no bias.

Race 6: Class 3 (1350M)

Well I cannot figure out with Divine Source in terms of how they ride it sometimes but basically its record here at Ipswich is that good it cannot be ignored. From the low draw I assume Harley pushes on and if he does with the rail out today this could all be over very quickly.

Race 7: Class 3 (1350M)

We are going out with the bang in the last. Rhuvaal was very good first up when in the wrong part of the track and with the booking of Ben Thompson and the middle alley he has options. He will be able to land closer in a race with a some genuine tempo and be one pair off the leaders in an ideal world and then unleash that turn off foot late.
