It's been a soggy week up here in God's Country, although the track will be announced a Good 4, it's really a Soft 7, IFKYK. Rail is back to the true so it should be advantageous to be on speed for the first part of the card. Read what the Mugs think of the day below.
Race 1 kicks off with a speedy Class 6 Plate over the 1110m which is very tricky start at Doomben if you've drawn wide. The pace will be on from everywhere here. With the only horse going back likely to be Beau Ideal. The Move was super impressive in Sydney midweek form, but whether that form is stronger than the Brisbane form around Le Palmier, Gee Tee Tee and Moonshine Lady is the question. The big watch her will be the strategy in Race 1 if they're railing the fence or keeping wide. Blanket finish.
Race 2 get's a little easier purely because there are less horses to dissect, that's how this works right? Cuba brings some pretty ordinary form here but looks to get conditions to suit here, should sit on the speed from barrier 2 and seems to grow a leg with some cut in the ground. Fabric on the other hand boasts some better south form but seems to do her best work on a Good track for Melbourne Cup winning trainer Danny O'Brien. Reloaded lines up as equal favourite here. Just let that sink in.

We have a potential ‘Good orse’ back in Race 3 as Love Tap looks to extend her winning record to 5 for Nash Rawiller. She’s been met with plenty of early market support but is the 1350m too sharp for her 1st up? The Victorians have another nice hopeful in Incredulous Dream for Maher and Eustace, but the list goes on. Love Tap could simply roll along for fun here and walk along making it tough for the swoopers.
It could be a one act affair in Race 4 as Hang Man starts favourite over the 2000m. Boasting a 1/2 length 3rd behind Paths of Glory and Zaaki the form is absolutely top notch, go find your bookie. Warning is fast becoming a cat since he last won in the Derby and So You Win looks the only other horse that could shake this contest up. This could be very sweet or very ugly depending on how hard you launch into Hang Man.
The Spirit of Boom classic brings a cracker field of 2YO’s as the stake their claim for the JJ Atkins. Son of the gun, Prince of Boom couldn’t of been more impressive on debut and has early market support, Giannis comes here as a maiden and favourite first up and Tiger Of Malay will Group 1 formlines from The Championships. Maotai gets the gun run on speed and it seems one of those races you could make a case for all of them, even the STIFFY... we’ll have a stuffy for sure
Chris Waller brings 17 horses here as they progress on to the Derby... who can beat him? Ok move on...

The Bright Shadow see’s Athiri start favorite after a forgive run at Hawkesbury. Blazing Miss looks the speed from the inside which should allow the favourite to have a nice sit. Outback Barbie gets back to Doomben, but gee the well is nearly empty with her. In a very open affair, a lot of these horses will be aiming for the Tatts Tiara, so find and destroy those futures markets. PS has Maozi gotten out yet? The 1200m will suit big time.

Coming here from a 2nd placing behind Skins looks super form, but the track was certainly advantageous that day. The locals have been super, Dr Why Not, Sea Raider and Westlink have all been racing super and could be up to a contest like this with luck in running. Axe fans will be in front from a long way, come Race 9 on Saturday afternoon it will look like a very long Doomben straight.
